Number of pieces

The number of pieces that a project involves is an important factor that influences illustrations work and prices. Usually, the more pieces you require the more expensive the illustration work will be. However, in some cases, the quantity of pieces bears no relation to the price. Generally, if pieces are similar, the illustration cost is reduced.

Style of illustration

Every illustration style offered by ILLUSTRANCE implies a development process to make each of them different from the rest. Each process involves certain steps which vary in terms of difficulty and time. These two factors determine the cost of each illustration. The most affordable illustrations are those that are simple, that involve the use of few colors and little artistic effort, and that are not developed in 3D. On the other hand, more complex illustration that involve the use of miscellaneous palettes, artistic work or 3D art, are a little more expensive.

Level of detail

The amount and quality of details that an illustration requires when going through the development process are directly connected to its final cost. An illustration work may require a great amount or a small amount of details, according to the use and the style you want to give it.

For example, the most modern and recent art is basically based on simple and synthetic forms that are easily recognizable, and is focused on morphologies. If the illustration will be used as a marketing element for a technology company, it is probable that the level of detail needed will not be so high. Another clear example of illustrations that do not need too much detail is a diagram.

However, classical art tends to use more complex and burdened structures, in which detail and realism are predominant. So, if an illustration for the cover of a book about ancient legends is required, this will probably demand a high level of detail.

Similarity between pieces

The more similar the pieces are, the less time the development process will take. Similarity simplifies the process enormously since they all share the same style and, sometimes, some elements may be re-used. For this reason, this type of project takes few revision rounds. So, the more similar the pieces are, the more money you will save.

Usage / size

The size and usage that the pieces will have is also another cause for price variation. Small illustrations-for websites for example-imply a low level of detail while bigger pieces-like posters illustrations- generally need more detailed work. This is why prices are different according to the size. The usage that the pieces will be given (website or print) also determines the price of the illustrations since the different applications involve different detail and definition work

Turnaround time

Like all areas of work, doing a job in a hurry always results in quality inefficiency. In order to avoid this, ILLUSTRANCE will provide more than one illustrator to develop a project and will give priority to it among the rest in case of emergency. Unless it is strictly necessary, we recommend not hiring our services at the last minute so as to avoid high costs, which sometimes means a 50% more of the standard price.

Revision rounds

We offer packages with limited and unlimited revision rounds. Although we do our best to avoid repeated revisions, we are aware that they are a common necessity during the development process of any design or illustration job.

In the case you are sure of what you want, you have existing examples of similar illustration jobs to provide us, you have worked with us before and/or your budget is tight, we recommend choosing the limited revisions package. This will reduce expenses significantly. However, if you request more revisions than the ones included in the package, all extra revisions will be charged.

But, in case you want the idea you have in your mind to be successfully reflected on the design, do not want to worry about extra charges, do not have existing examples of similar illustrations, it is the first time you have worked with us and/or you can afford it, we recommend choosing a package that includes unlimited revisions. In this way, you will be able to make as many revisions to the design as you wish until the piece fulfill your requirements.
